Electrical Power Processing

Electrical Power Processing
is multidisciplinary and deals with the conversion and processing of electrical power using power electronics and electromechanics

Power electronics has its own semiconductor device technologies and uses switchmode circuits and real-time controllers.

The area also covers the use of electromagnetic near fields for energy conversion, including electromechanics involving the conversion of electrical energy to mechanical energy and vice versa.

The research programme addresses issues that drive the advancement of electrical power processors and at the same time we also bring into the picture broader systems design issues.
Power electronics and electromechanics are the central enabling technologies for advanced energy applications. It is a vital part of renewable energy conversion, mobility, transport and Smart Grids.
